Dr. Dennis Ruscello earned his undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the California University in Pennsylvania and his master's in Speech Pathology from West Virginia university. He proceeded on to earn his Ph.D. in Speech/Language Pathology from the University of Arizona, after which he worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist and research associate before joining West Virginia University as a faculty member in 1977. Since then, Ruscello has held the positions of professor in the WVU Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the College of Education and Human Services, Co-Director of the WVU Cleft Palate Team, and adjunct professor in the Department of Otolaryngology. He is responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate classes pertaining to speech sound disorders, craniofacial disorders, language disorders, and dysphagia for which he has been recognized with the Outstanding Teacher Award from the College of Education and Human Services in 1980, 1988, 1977, and 2015 as well as the WVU Foundation Award for Outstanding Teaching in 1998 and 2016. Ruscello has authored or co-authored over 100 publications, primarily in the areas of cleft palate and speech sound disorders.
